Orange Power

Imagine my joy: On Saturday, while wandering the streets of Milan for a last time, I found another image for my market/wheels series. And not only that, but the scooter is my "power color" - Orange! What luck!  I find orange to be an energetic color, full of life. For some reason, when I use the color orange, in my art, on my blog or in my clothes, it gives me courage. Courage to be different, to stand out, to be myself. Courage to share the "Kat Eye View." This discovery has sort of happened organically over the last year, and now I love anything orange. So I couldn't help but enjoy this scene immensely. Thank you, Italy, for another wonderful gift.

How about you? Do you have a power color? How did it come about? I would love to hear your story too!

  1. I actually have a few power colors but orange is not one of them. LOL In fact, I don't think I like orange. or brown. :) I have a pretty much defined color palette that makes me feel comfortable and therefore powerful too, these include white, gray, blue & navy, deep pink, and deep purple. A hint of jewel tones around me makes me energetic. :)

  2. I used to be all about red, but somehow that feeling changed in the last couple of years. The strong bold colours seem to slowly shift towards softer tones. I don't know what that's saying exactly, but I do know that it somehow seems to connect to how I am feeling myself. I notice a change in me too, feel how I myself am softening, opening up, start to be courageous enough to be vulnerable.

Well, you didn't see that diary entry coming, now did you? ;-)

Love the scooter. I think orange is a fun colour, full of life and pleasure. My eldest is a big fan of orange, always has been, since he was born!

  4. I don't like the colour orange, possibly due to a dare to eat orange peel as a child which left me feeling sick for days or that fact that orange juice gives me cronic stomach pain. However I have decorated my kitchen in -you guessed it- orange, with orange cusions and pottery. My latest 'just for me cos i love it' purchase is an orange ceramic egg, odd. I'm sure theres a psychological explanation and don't get me started on lime green....:O)

  5. My goodness, you're going to miss these scooters! I'm not fond of orange normally, but I think that's more as a colour to wear than anything else. I'm not sure I have a particular colour that I'd call a power colour but I've always loved red.

  6. I share you love for orange - I used it as a major color in my bedroom remodel. When I bought my iPad, I chose the orange smart cover, I just love it. For me it is a happy color, powerful - and best of all - it feels different, outside of the norm (although that seems to be changing.)

  7. Oh what a perfect color for a scooter! I've always considered red my power color...I wear it when I feel the need for more energy or health. Happy Solstice!

  9. I just love this Kat!
    Wonderful color and capture!
Okay, this is going to sound strange, but for me it is definitely black. Love the simplicity of it. We can count that as a color can't we?? :-) :-)

  10. Kat today I have orange on my blog as well - along with a short poem http://creativepotager.wordpress.com/2011/06/21/poppy-opening

Like you orange is a power colour. It seems to have more lasting vibrancy than either yellow or red. Sweet scooter.
