Step it Up

Stairways are such a great subject, and a perfect repeating pattern, especially with the light and shadow of the railings repeating on the steps. A few weeds for some natural contrast never hurts the image, either. Thank goodness not everyone gets around to pulling the weeds or painting their houses, or the world would be a boring place for photographers like me.

Have you been seeing repeating patterns? You have one more day to link in with Exploring with a Camera! I hope you'll share the patterns you've seen in the world around you.

  1. I like the way the light is trading with the shadows on the steps. Want weeds? My house works.

  2. Indeed, so glad some folks have better things to do than keep their life "perfect" on the outside! Artists need weathered layers of paint and nature's weedy plants and flowers!

  3. I'm always drawn to rustic well used steps. I think they tell a wonderful story.

  4. Would love a piece of those well worn steps to photograph flowers on...wouldn't that be fun. A real true to life texture.

  6. Such a simple subject, but hard to capture the shadow and light so that the photo is balanced. You did it perfectly and the weeds offer just enough color/shape to create another layer of interest. Nice shot!
