Artists and Art

From Seth Godin's blog yesterday:
Art is what we call...
the thing an artist does.
It's not the medium or the oil or the price or whether it hangs on a wall or you eat it. What matters, what makes it art, is that the person who made it overcame the resistance, ignored the voice of doubt and made something worth making. Something risky. Something human.
Art is not in the eye of the beholder. It's in the soul of the artist.
I loved his words so much I wanted to share them here with you today.

Today's photo is from Barcelona. Can you guess what this is?

  1. I love the words too! Wow, I may have to pass those along. I'm still trying to work out what this is - but, anyway - great capture, love the shadow and the spidery effect of whatever it is :)

  2. I think it's a wire contraption that you put on an alien's head and when you plug it in it wipes his brain so you know everything about him. Now come on Kat, you know I'm right :-)

  3. I love Seth, his blog, his books and so many posts that he's written over time that just happen to drop in my Inbox at the time when I'm having doubts, he seems to always say exactly the right things i need to hear :)

  4. Thanks for sharing those inspiring words....ignoring the voice of doubt is hard but so important. As to the identity of your object there, I can't tell if it's tiny or huge. I give up.
