If an image is worth a thousand words, why do I find myself writing so much? This is an interesting quandary I have found myself in... As my passion for photography has increased, so has my need to express it. Not only in images, in words. Where I took the photo, why it caught my eye, how it makes me feel, what I've learned from the experience, how you can do it too... writing, writing, writing.
The surprising thing, to me, is that I have discovered that I enjoy it. I like to write. I like to find the words to express myself, to bring an idea into reality. To help someone understand something new, maybe see things in a different way. I never though of myself as a writer, yet here I am writing, almost every day. I think I'll add it to my little "I am" statement...
I am an artist, a photographer and writer, and I have a unique vision
to share with the world.
It feels a little weird. Like a new style I'm trying on, one that looks good but I'm not comfortable with it yet. I think I need to wear it a little while and see how it feels before I go off and change my "About Me" page. :)
Speaking of writing, what brought all of these thoughts to my mind - my second article for Jenny of Rising Sun Coaching is now posted over on her blog. If you are interested in learning more about how I found my passion and purpose during my time in Italy, and how you can too, then give it a read.
See you next week! We are off traveling this weekend. Venice again, the in-laws are in town for a visit. I know, rough life. :)
Ditto, I find myself writing too and enjoying it, perhaps I'll take a creative writing course to sharpen up, what do you think? Oh Venice, I'd love to visit, have done Florence. I love all things Italian, perhps the Venice Biennale one day - swoon!
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to mention, this pic, I find it taking me back to Florence for some reason? I love it. x
ReplyDeleteVery good advice about finding what works particularly for you. We each usually know what it is that lifts our spirits and energizes us, but so often we don't make those activities a priority. Great article!! :)
ReplyDeleteGo ahead and change your About Me. Your words are valued and complement your beautiful images. Enjoy Venice!
ReplyDeleteWonderful words Miss K! When I do my scrap pages, I use few words and as I am finding out about myself, like it tah way. Don't like mixing images and words - somebody always gets their feelings hurt. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteKat, I have realized for a while that I LOVE combining words and images - I feel that they complement each other and that (with some exceptions)the combination is more powerful than either in isolation. I guess that's why I love blogging because I get to do both, and totally on my own terms! Anyway, I enjoy both your words and images as well and love visiting your blog. Enjoy your time away!!!
ReplyDeleteI like this new lifestyle, and i also totally understand it! I always liked to write, but far more so when I became very serious about my photography. It's a whole new world, and I love it!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
lisa.
Funny, yes the writing part has become more important for me, too, although it is still kind of a stretch for me to do it in English. I've always loved to write - in German. I've never thought I could ever do it in a language other than my native language... well, life is full of surprises.
ReplyDeleteI L-O-V-E this photo! Enjoy Venice!
waving to you from Spain! Hope you are having a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteKat, I think when you have people enjoying what your writing as I do, time to add "Writer" to your about page. :) Your blog is a great way to see both the photographer and the writer done so well. I would love to read about how you ended up in Italy. Ciao!
